Frequently asked

Answers before you ask.

Deadlines, documents, turnaround times, and how the whole engagement runs — the questions that come up most in the first call.

When is my S-Corp 1120S due, and when should I send my documents?

Form 1120S is due March 15 for calendar-year S-Corporations. Send a complete document set by February 15 to be confidently filed on time. If you bundle monthly bookkeeping with us, your books are already closed and we can file by early March.

Need more time? We file the Form 7004 six-month extension as part of our extension add-on.

When is my individual 1040 due, and what does "basic return" cover?

Form 1040 is due April 15. A "basic return" covers W-2 wages, 1099-INT/DIV/R, a single Schedule C for sole proprietors, the standard or itemized deduction, and one state. Add-ons cover prior-year, amended, and extension filings; rental real estate (Sch. E) and multi-state filings are quoted separately.

How quickly will my return be filed?

Our median turnaround is 72 business hours from a complete document set — every checklist item in SmartVault, all open questions answered. During the last week before each deadline we prioritize already-engaged clients in upload order.

What documents do you need?

For 1120S clients: prior-year return, trial balance or QBO/Xero access, bank and credit-card statements through year-end, shareholder K-1 information, and payroll summaries. For 1040 clients: prior-year return, W-2s, 1099s, ID, and bank routing for refund/payment. SmartVault generates a personalized checklist after intake.

Do I need to come into an office?

No. The whole engagement is electronic: intake, document collection, review, signature on Form 8879, e-file, and the signed final return. If you'd prefer a video call to walk through the draft return, we offer 25-minute review calls at no extra charge.

Are you authorized to e-file with the IRS?

Yes. Strategic Accounting Solutions is an Authorized IRS e-File Provider (EFIN 438383). Every preparer holds an active PTIN, and the firm follows IRS Publication 4557 safeguards for taxpayer data.
